Dilli in the Offing?

This article is just a quick protips for all you first timers to Delhi. I am not really from these parts, though I have now spent 7 years, so I hope they are helpful.

1) Airport: Delhi has a brand new airport and all international arrivals usually are from the Terminal 3.As you make your way out, I suggest you take a pre-paid cab straight to the hotel venue. You can safely choose any private cab, I suggest Meru cab. Which you can book online as well.

2) Delhi is full of history with so many rich and powerful kings of old. There is plenty to see, If you can find your way to the Delhi Metro station, there are several great places you can visit. Stop-off at the end of yellow line (Central Secretariat) for nice walk around Janpath, see India Gate, Rashtrapathi Bhawan, South Block and the Parliament. You can also see the Akshardham, Qutub Minar and the Lotus Temple, all connected via Metro.

3) Food: Try Punjabi, Rajasthani or Afhani food, Aloo Parantha, Lassi, Chaat, Kaababs and KingFisher Strong Beer.

4) Weather: It is going to be hot by most standards, only drink bottled water, keep to public places and remember that the average Indian can understand key English words and is genuinely willing to help.

Good luck.
